The Marketing Apps event next week – help us make it even better

Great news! Our Marketing Apps event at GDC Bitesize next Thursday is almost-fully booked! If you’re coming along, it should be a great event, with plenty of talking points and ideas to inspire, whether you’re a developer, a digital agency or a marketeer.

To get the most out the event, there are a couple of things you can do on the day:

    - it’s great to share your ideas and network with others, so feel free to leave flyers, promotional items or business cards out for other attendees

    - have a question or two ready – there’ll be plenty of time for Q&A, so please take advantage of our guests while they’re here in the North East (details of guests can be found in previous posts)

    - be punctual; we’ve a lot to get into our two hour session and we need to start promptly

    See you next Thursday! P

When is the next appnorth event and will you cover alternatives to Objective C such as PhoneGap, Titanium, and whether or not these (and other platforms) are viable ways to deploy iphone apps?

There’s likely to be an event in September, however like previous events this is likely to be an informal get-together, rather than a GDS-style workshop.

Marketing Apps – schedule and ticket information

Here’s the official blurb for the Marketing Apps event – it’s a great line-up and should be a standout event. Any question, contact daniel.cook@codeworks.net or myself. Paul

Marketing Apps – GDS (Gateshead Digital Summer) Bitesize

This two hour workshop, ran in conjunction with App North, offers unique insight into how apps can be successfully marketed.

You’ll hear from speakers talking frankly about their experiences of promoting apps, and learn about best practise.

    There will be presentations by:

    Mills™, UsTwo
UsTwo is perhaps the most progressive app development team in the country, responsible for high-profile apps such as the Mouth-Off™ series, iSprint for Reebok, topsee for lastminute.com and their latest project, Inkstrumental – currently being promoted by Apple in the App Store.

    Charlie Cadbury, White App

White App provides an alternative way to promote apps and generate revenue, offering a white label service for both iPhone and Android developers.

There will also be a panel discussion to discuss best practise when marketing apps. Joining Mills and Charlie Cadbury will be:

    Adam Parker, RealWire PR
    Stuart Dredge, tech journalist TBC

The workshop will be hosted by Paul Smith, founder of App North and creative partner of Never Odd Or Even.

Marketing Apps is fully subsidised for NE Digital companies, and takes place on Thursday 24 June at the Marriot Gateshead (near the Metro Centre) between 3pm and 5pm. Register for the workshop now at Amiando.com.

Event – Marketing Apps @ Gateshead Digital Summer

There hasn’t been an App North scheduled for May, but in the meantime I’m delighted to announce a special event in collaboration with Codeworks, as part of Gateshead Digital Summer.

Marketing Apps will be a two hour event, part of the GDC Bitesize workshops, looking at how best to promote mobile apps – in particular for iPhone and Android. We’ll hear about best practise from successful developers, speak to journalists and PR specialists about how to generate awareness, as well as explore alternative revenue streams for app developers.

I’ve been talking to guests for the event, and am massively excited about the line-up, so I hope you’ll be able to support it. Marketing Apps is a fully subsidised event, and takes place on Thursday 24 June at the Marriot Gateshead (near the Metro Centre) between 3pm and 5pm.

The event is open to North East individuals and companies onlyto register, email daniel.cook@codeworks.net. Paul

Another good reason to attend App North – the Apple iPad!

The second App North meet-up is less than a fortnight away! If you’d like to find out how the first event went, have a look here; if you’d like to attend the next event, details of what’s occurring and sign-up are here.

One more good reason to attend – App North will be your first opportunity to see the Apple iPad ahead of its UK launch. The folks from Never Odd Or Even are bringing one along on the night, so you’ll be able to see what all the fuss is about.

If you’d like to come along, remember to sign up in the comments here, and if you’d like to sponsor the event (it’s indecently cheap) then get in touch at paul[@]neverodd.co.uk.
